In 2024, we provided over £501million in green finance, and further £487 million in Sustainability Linked Lending.

We understand the challenges SMEs face in green transition. Our research identified as main barriers:

• limited financial resources
• time constraints
• low awareness of government support.

To help SMEs, we launched a green loan to fund energy efficiency projects. We're exploring ways to support our clients in their net zero journey.

We aim to fund the growth of the UK renewables, and battery energy storage sectors.

This investment aligns with Banco Santander’s efforts to fund renewable energy projects globally.

Santander UK Consumer Finance supports the transition to a low-carbon economy through our auto finance offerings.

We surpassed our £2 billion auto finance green finance lending ambition for 2025. Santander Consumer Finance issued £2.97 billion in green auto finance since 2021. Our lending portfolio includes over 105,884 low-carbon vehicles.

In 2024, we refined our internal climate transition plan, developed in 2023. We enhanced our plan to reflect our progress and adapt to the evolving external environment. Our plan considers our Climate Strategy and the Transition Plan Taskforce guidelines.

Since 2019, we've reduced our Scope 1 & 2 market-based emissions by 65%. We're working to reduce our emissions while supporting our supply chain partners.

Collaborating with suppliers

We work with our suppliers to minimise the impact of our operations. Our focus is on tracking and reducing Scope 3 supply chain emissions. We integrate sustainability into our sourcing decisions. In 2024, we introduced a new Code of Supplier Responsibility. The code is aligned with our broader sustainability ambitions.

Employee commuting emissions

In 2024, we made progress in assessing emissions from employee commuting. We improved mapping employee locations, calculating distances to work, and estimating travel types.
